Student Council Activities
The 8th Grade Student Council Leadership class sponsors and runs many activities throughout the school year. Some of these include:
-4th and 8th grade Buddy Activities: 4th and 8th graders are paired up as buddies and meet once a month to participate in activities to build connection between the younger and older grades. These activities may include scavenger hunts, cookie decorating, ROCKS, STEAM challenges.
-Middle School Dances: There are approximately 2-4 dances each year. They usually occur on Friday nights from 7-9pm. The Student Council decides on the play lists and themes for each dance.
-Movie Nights: There are approximately 2-4 movie nights each year. They usually occur on Friday nights from 6:30-8:30pm. The grades invited to these movie nights vary and food is sold at these events.
-Grade Level Competitions: Throughout the year, grade levels will choose representatives to compete against each other in a variety of activities. These can include pumpkin decorating, gingerbread house construction, Minute to Win It events.
-Student vs. Staff Competitions: Students and staff enjoy friendly competitions throughout the year. These activities may include kickball, volleyball, charades, jeopardy, Water balloon toss.
-Spirit Days: There are spirit days every month, and also a Spirit Week in March. Students are encouraged to dress up during spirit days to earn points for their grade. At the end of the year, the grade with the most spirit points wins a prize.
-Grams: Student Council sells holiday/ seasonal grams throughout the year. They choose small toys or candy treats to sell to students during lunch and recess. Students can purchase for themselves, family, or friends and have them delivered.
-Bike/ Walk/ Bus/ Carpool to School Days: Throughout the year, Student Council will sponsor bike/walk/bus/carpool to school days. Students may get spirit points or a special treat for participating.
All proceeds from these events go towards student activities.
