CURRICULUM

The Corte Madera Spanish curriculum is developed based on California State Standards, in alignment with PVSD's goals and priorities. All of our students are provided a high-quality program that motivates, engages, and challenges them to be critical thinkers and problem solvers.

Grade 4 Spanish

The 4/5 World Language program aims to get students enthusiastic about foreign language learning and provides a foundation to facilitate and accelerate their future academic study of Spanish. In addition, it strives to promote students' development as global citizens by broadening their cultural lens and expanding their awareness of the Spanish-speaking world.

Content

  • Conversation Starters (students are able to ask basic questions in Spanish)

  • Seasons & weather differences in weather in a day

  • Interpret simple language (written and spoken)

  • Use culturally appropriate language

  • Numbers to 1,000 by 100’s and by 10’s

  • School, classroom, schedules, subjects, numbers, time, 

  • Parts of the body, illness

  • Food, meals, restaurants

  • Cognates Identify similarities & differences in orthography and phonology to understand words

  • I like…/I do not like

  • Adjectives

  • Write descriptive sentences 

  • Read Level A, B and C books

  • Family members

  • Alphabet

  • Asking and answering basic questions

  • Verbs

  • Cultural and leisure-time activities, outdoor, recreational activities, music

  • Present personal information to an audience (Autobiography with simple sentences)

  • Transportation, lodging, itineraries, geographic features, and landmarks

  • Food & Meals

  • Gender & Number agreement

  • Clothing 

  • Shopping

  • Family Members and Friends
